Epidemics, prophesy, and self-Christianization: Ahtna Indians quest for Russian orthodoxy, 1880s-1930s
Using archival materials from an Orthodox mission in Alaska and field materials from the 1990s, the report explores the history of the failed Orthodox mission to the Atna Indians, an Athapask-speaking group living in the Mednaya River region of Alaska.
